Mission of CULDEVA
To convene scholars, policymakers, practitioners, and cultural actors to critically examine,
promote, and integrate African cultural values, knowledge systems, and creative expressions
into development thinking, policy formulation, and practice across the continent. CULDEVA
is committed to creating inclusive and dynamic platforms that encourage interdisciplinary
dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collaboration among diverse stakeholders who are
passionate about Africa’s development.
The mission emphasizes fostering rigorous research and critical inquiry into the ways culture
shapes societal progress, governance, and innovation. By amplifying indigenous knowledge
systems and elevating cultural perspectives, CULDEVA seeks to challenge conventional
development models and advocate for approaches that are contextually relevant, people-
centered, and sustainable.
In addition, CULDEVA aims to translate research and dialogue into actionable outcomes by
influencing policies, strengthening institutional frameworks, and supporting capacity-
building initiatives. Through partnerships, publications, conferences, and community
engagement, it works to ensure that culture is recognized not as a peripheral element, but as a
central driver of development outcomes. Ultimately, the mission is to empower individuals
